From the side view, mark the hairline. The hairline begins just below the front upper corner of the head and goes back and down to the junction of neck and hair. Be careful not to put the hairline too far back or you might have to carve ears. Of course, too far forward will get in the way of her facial features.
From the front view, mark the sides of the face and the curvature of the cheek and chin. Notice that the face is about the same width as the neck.
Remove the wood in front of the hairline and beside the cheeks and face. Round under the curvature of the chin from the front view. The sides and edges are all kept flat at this stage, no rounding.
